Collection Notice

  1. The Benedictine Abbey Jamberoo (hitherto referred to as the Abbey) collects personal information, including sensitive information, to enable the Abbey to provide religious, spiritual and pastoral services to its community including various associated administrative.
  2. Such personal information may need to be collected to allow us to provide care for guests, employees, volunteers and anyone seeking our assistance in those related areas, while under our supervision and to discharge our duty of care. The information may also be used to solicit donations and/or request and engage your services as a volunteer from time to time.
  3. The Abbey may need to disclose your personal information to related parties for pastoral care, administrative and fundraising purposes such as to various Church agencies, the diocese of Wollongong, medical practitioners and people providing services to individuals, groups, schools, employees, volunteers and counsellors. Such information will be shared if the person to whom the information relates provides their consent to the disclosure or would reasonably expect that such a disclosure may be required, or if otherwise permitted or required by law.
  4. If you ask us to send your personal information overseas you agree that the Abbey will have no control over the information disclosed and cannot ensure that the overseas recipient handles that information in accordance with the Privacy Act. If we do not receive the information requested, we may not be able to provide our services of guest accommodation, and/or spiritual/pastoral care.
  5. Any consents that are required for the use and disclosure of the personal information collected about children will be sought from their parents or guardians or supervisors (the latter is essential for any group of children visiting the Abbey) unless the child is 15 years or more, in which case the Abbey may seek the child’s consent if it considers this appropriate in all the particular circumstances.
