Abbatial Blessing of Mother Hilda

On Monday morning, during our Eucharistic celebration, for the feast of the Annunciation, we gathered as a community to witness the blessing of our new Abbess, Hilda Scott. As you know, Abbess Hilda was elected some weeks back but it is usual to have a period of time before the official blessing takes place. We were joined for the occasion by members of Abbess Hilda’s family and, no doubt her parents were very much with them in spirit as they witnessed their daughter’s blessing with pride and joy from the heavenly realms.

On the day of election Abbess Hilda received the symbol of the cross and on Monday, she received the staff, the seal and her ring from Bishop Brian Mascord who presided at both the election in February and this celebratory Eucharist.

We ask your continued prayer for Abbess Hilda as she begins her new role as shepherd of the community and proclaims her own fiat… “be it done unto me according to thy word.”
