Becoming an Oblate

If you are interested in becoming an oblate of Jamberoo Abbey, we suggest you seek further information through the following:

candles
  • Spend some time looking through our website to get a sense of who we are and what we do.
  • Read through the various postings and links on the Oblate page
  • If you have not already done so, begin to use the Lectio Divina link which provides a guide for reading, prayer and study of the Sunday Readings
  • If possible, visit the Abbey. You are most welcome to join the community for Eucharist or the Liturgy of the Hours any day. Our church is also open each day if you would like to spend some quiet time in prayer. If you are able to spend a few days at the Abbey, we have guest cottages available. Bookings can be made by calling or emailing our Cottage Co-ordinator: 02 4236 0011 (ext 114) or cottageretreats@bigpond.com
  • Attend an Oblate Meeting if you can
  • Purchase a copy of the Rule of St Benedict from our bookshop (02 4236 0011 ext 111) or abbeybookscraft@bigpond.com) and begin to read and reflect on small sections at a time. Daily readings from the Rule of St Benedict can also be found at www.osb.org/rb/show.asp?mode=today
